Who can join an experience day?

We have experience options for both riders and passengers. If you wish to be the rider, you will need to be over 25 years of age with less than 3 points on your license. There are no specific requirements if you wish to join us for a passenger ride.

Do I have to have ridden a sidecar before?

No, the experience centre is open to anyone who has a full motorcycle license. We welcome both experienced sidecar riders and those who are just beginners looking to try it for the first time.

We are based at Drift Cafe, Cresswell, Morpeth, NE615LA.

I want to buy a motorcycle and sidecar but don't want to do an experience day can I just come and test ride a motorcycle and sidecar?

If you are interested in buying a Ural or Watsonian Sidecar but do not want to do a full experience day, you are welcome to arrange a viewing. We are also more than happy to take you for a test ride. However, whether you are an experienced sidecar rider or novice, you will not be able to ride and will instead be a passenger in the sidecar for the test ride. Riding a motorcycle with a sidecar is very different to a solo motorcycle and unless we have been given the opportunity to assess your ability, we can only take you for a ride as a sidecar passenger. We would strongly recommend you join us for an experience day before riding and don't forget that each experience day comes with a £250 gift voucher accessories.

How many people will be on an experience day?

Our Rider Experiences are for groups of up to 8 people sharing 4 sidecar outfits. If you would like a private experience you can arrange that by contacting us at contact@thesidecarguys.com

Can I cancel my experience day?

Experience days are non-refundable. However, if you can no longer attend your booked day we can change the day to a date of your choosing. You can also gift the experience day to someone else.

HALF DAY RIDER EXPERIENCE

£175pp / 3 hours / Saturdays and Tuesdays

The half day sidecar experience is a great taster of what it's like to ride a sidecar outfit. Assuming you're new to sidecars, this experience will include the following:

An introduction to sidecar riding. Including some top tips on how to stop and steer this new type of vehicle.
Time to develop your skills on our test track with a series of fun games.
A scenic passenger ride to and from our test track.

It's a small group experience (with as many guides as bikes) so if you're new to sidecar riding this one is for you. If you've already got experience riding sidecars and don't see yourself as someone who is starting from scratch please let us know when booking so we can plan for a different great day.

THE BIKES

We have two options available on bikes. They are a Ural Motorcycle and Sidecar or a Royal Enfield Motorcycle with a Watsonian Sidecar. We have two of each available for experience days so a maximum group size of four bikes or eight people. The different bikes offer different experiences so make sure you read the description below before booking your preferred option.

URAL MOTORCYCLE AND SIDECAR

Suitable for on road and off road experiences (riding restricted to private land).

WHO CAN TAKE PART?

This experience requires a minimum of two people to take part. If you would like to do it on your own you can do, just click the single supplement fee when booking (£100). To take part as a rider in this experience, you must:

Have a full motorcycle license with less than 6 penalty points on it.
Be over the age of 25.

To take part as a passenger in this experience, you must:

Be taking part with a rider who qualifies under the above criteria - if you don't you can join a passenger experience.
Be over the age of 12.

HOW TO BOOK?

Just click the below button. You can pick Ural or Watsonian by clicking either of the buttons below. You can pay a £100pp deposit to secure your dates and then move your dates up to 4 weeks in advance if you need to. You'll be given the chance to rearrange your dates if there's severe bad weather.

WHAT TO EXPECT

All experiences are based on two people sharing one sidecar. One person rides the motorcycle and one person is the co-pilot in the sidecar itself. If you're both licensed riders you can swap seats throughout the day and if you don't have a license, you can just hop in the sidecar and enjoy the ride.

The riding element of the experience takes place solely on private land.

All guides are trained in sidecar riding and are OGA qualified motorcycle guides. Our guide will lead the day from another motorcycle or motorcycle and sidecar in front of you.

This is a small group experience with a maximum group size of eight people (four sidecars). We always have plenty of guides on hand to split the group based on ability and interests.

FUN! Our experiences are exhilarating and without a doubt the best way to adventure in the North East.

Safety first. We take safety really seriously and only travel at safe legal speeds. Sidecars are a thrill at 30mph! Plus we can provide helmets and other safety equipment if you don't have your own.
